Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is an MMSD program with the mission to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. The Class of 2020 AVID/TOPS Lancers share their memories and future aspirations in the video below.
The recipient of the 2020 AVID/TOPS Rising Stars Scholarship from La Follette is Mario Canacasco Rubio. Mario is involved in many community and volunteer activities including the ACE Environmental Fellowship. He also interned for BoV Member and State Rep. Dianne Hesselbein to gain experience in the political process, as he hopes one day to become a lobbyist.
Because of the AVID/TOPS Class of 2020's commitment to hard work and high expectations, along with the unending support of their amazing advisors, they are graduating high school with a world of opportunity.
