Equity League, an inclusivity-driven impact investment venture capital firm based in Green Bay and built out of TitletownTech, has added Michael Flowers as a Venture Capital Fellow to the team, the firm announced in a press release Wednesday. Flowers will be responsible for conducting market analysis on investable industries as he evaluates pitc
hes from aspiring founders.
“Entrepreneurship is truly the path to building generational wealth in a relatively short amount of time. Yes, education and homeownership can help single families achieve generational wealth. However, if we’re talking about making a real impact on income inequality for communities, creating a successful business opens up avenues that would never have been possible given past and current systemic limitations — and the Equity League aims to change that,” Flowers said in a statement. “Often, entrepreneurship is overlooked for certain groups of people because historically, there hasn’t been significant representation in this space,” continued Flowers. “For instance, naming five Black, LatinX, or female tech founders can be challenging for most people, but we all know of Mark Zuckerburg, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, or Mark Cuban. The goal is to encourage and inspire founders of all communities to this arena. As they say, ‘The rising tide lifts all boats.’”
“Michael brings a wealth of strategic experience to the Equity League that founders will appreciate,” said Equity League Director Israel Squires. “Our mission is to create a long-term positive impact on society, and he is well-positioned to provide value to our firm as new founders come to the table.”
Flowers holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare and Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he played basketball for the Badgers from 2004-2008. Prior to joining the Equity League, Flowers spent his early professional career in financial services and wealth management, then shifted his focus to entrepreneurship after becoming a mobile software engineer, according to the press release.
